Gold Cup: Qatar denied opening win by Panama

Houston: Qatar and Panama played to a thrilling 3-3 draw in Group D of the 2021 Gold Cup at the BBVA Stadium in Houston on Tuesday.

Playing in the tournament as an invited team, Qatar were denied an opening win by a Panama side who came from behind three times to force the draw in a match where the kickoff had to be delayed by almost two hours due to severe weather warning.

Manila: The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) has named former international Marlon Maro as head coach of the women’s national team.

Maro, 56, takes charge of a Philippines team that has seen consistent success over the last four years, which included the team qualifying for the 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup in 2018 and achieving its highest FIFA ranking of 65 in 2020.
