Australia, New Zealand promise to deliver
a spectacular show in 2023
Sydney: Football Federation Australia (FFA) and New Zealand Football (NZF) are delighted their ground-breaking vision to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 will be realised after being awarded the hosting rights by FIFA.
FFA and NZF thanked the FIFA Council for their landmark decision on Thursday, which will see the two countries host a tournament of firsts ─ the first ever co-confederation hosted FIFA World Cup, the first ever FIFA Women’s World Cup to be held in the Asia-Pacific region, and the first ever to be held in the southern hemisphere.
Melbourne: Melbourne Victory winger Robbie Kruse has declared himself fit and ready to go when the A-League resumes following its coronavirus-enforced break next month with Grant Brebner’s side due to make their return to action against Western United on July 16.
Play in the A-League was halted on March 24 due to the global pandemic with Victory struggling at the wrong end of the standings with nine games remaining in the regular season.
Sydney FC lead the standings ahead of Melbourne City with Victory in 10th in the 11-team league, seven points adrift of Western United, who occupy the sixth and the final spot in the Finals series.
