Qatar to host 2020 AFC Champions League in the West region
Kuala Lumpur: The Qatar Football Association (QFA) has been confirmed as the host Member Association for the 2020 AFC Champions League matches in the West region from the Group Stage to the Semi-finals, which will take place from September 14 to October 3, 2020.
The AFC had earlier reiterated its commitment to complete the 2020 AFC Club Competitions in a centralised venue with all matches in the Group Stage for both the AFC Champions League and AFC Cup to be played in full and the knock-out stages consisting of single match ties.
The deadline for bids to host the centralised AFC Champions League West region matches was on July 13, 2020.
Beijing: Brazilian midfielder Leonardo Pereira has completed his move to Shandong Luneng from Tianjin Quanjian.
The 34-year-old, who began his career in Brazil and later plied his trade in Greece, made his first move to Asia with Korea Republic's Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in 2012 and assisted the club to the K-League title in 2014 and 2015.
Pereira scored 10 goals as Jeonbuk won the 2016 AFC Champions League, the second time they lifted the Continental title.
Fornaroli targets Grand Final success ahead of A-League resumption
Gosford: Bruno Fornaroli has admitted that Perth Glory have their eyes on winning the A-League Grand Final as the Western Australia club get set to resume their campaign against Central Coast Mariners on Saturday.
Having left Melbourne City prior to the end of the 2018-19 campaign, the Uruguayan striker joined Perth last March, although he was ineligible to appear for his new side until the current campaign and thus played no part in their Premiership success and subsequent Grand Final defeat to Sydney FC.
Back on the pitch and scoring goals, Fornaroli was in fine form prior to the league's COVID-19 related postponement and leads the Perth scoring charts. With domestic and, later, Continental action now set to return, the 32-year-old spoke exclusively to the-AFC.com about his hopes for the remainder of the season as The Glory chase a place in the A-League Finals Series and the AFC Champions League knockout rounds.
