South Asian Football Federation backs Shaikh Salman

Zurich: The seven members of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) on Thursday declared their support for Asian Football Confederation President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa in his campaign to be the next FIFA President.

The countries - Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bhutan – met in Zurich to discuss the FIFA Presidential Election which will take place at the Extraordinary FIFA Congress on Friday, and unanimously agreed to vote for Shaikh Salman.

SAFF joined the ten members of the East Asian Football Federation (EAFF) who had earlier announced earlier that they also would be voting for the AFC President who they say will provide world football with the best leadership.
