Ulsan: Lee Dong-gyeong has admitted that Ulsan Hyundai are eyeing silverware in 2020 as the K League side aim to make up for last year’s disappointment after missing out on the title on the final day of the season.
The Horangi came agonisingly close to being crowned champions of Korea Republic for the first time since 2005, only for a heavy final-day defeat to Pohang Steelers to allow Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors to pip them at the post and claim their third successive title.
While the 2019 campaign ended in bitter disappointment, it had been a breakthrough season for the 22-year-old midfielder, who started 24 of his side’s games following a loan spell with second-tier club FC Anyang in 2018.
Now, after its initial postponement due to the COVID-19 outbreak, K League action is set to get underway behind closed doors at the weekend, with Ulsan opening their campaign at home to Sangju Sangmu on Saturday.

Jeonju: As football fans around the world prepare to tune in to the opening match of the 2020 K League season on Friday, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors defender Hong Jeong-ho has admitted the lack of action elsewhere offers the perfect opportunity to show the quality of the Korean game.
The domestic competition in Korea Republic belatedly kicks off at the weekend, with defending K League champions Jeonbuk hosting FA Cup winners Suwon Samsung Bluewings at Jeonju World Cup Stadium in the traditional curtain-raiser to the league season on Friday evening.
And, with the vast majority of other leagues across the globe currently on hiatus due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Korea Republic international believes the match offers the ideal chance to highlight the strength of the game in the East Asian country.

Kuala Lumpur: On Friday, Korea Republic will join Chinese Taipei and Turkmenistan among the few active domestic football leagues as the game on the Continent slowly begins to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Founded in 1983 as the Korean Super League before being revamped and renamed as the K League in 1998, Korea's top flight boasts a number of powerhouses on the Continental stage, with no fewer than four sides having won the AFC Champions League and a further two having lifted its predecessor, the now defunct Asian Club Championship trophy.

Suwon: With a league-leading 20 goals in his debut season in the K League, Suwon Samsung Bluewings’ striker Adam Taggart knows how to make an impression.
But when the coronavirus-delayed season finally kicks off on Friday with an enticing encounter against Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, the Australian forward will be paying attention to much more than scoring goals for Lee Lim-saeng’s team.

Adelaide: Football can be a cruel game. For every last-minute winner, there is a beaten goalkeeper. For every player who benefits from a stroke of luck, there is another who suffers.
Adelaide United defender Robbie Cornthwaite had the misfortune of scoring an own goal in a match he considered the biggest in his club’s history, but unlike most players, the 22-year-old managed to turn his calamity into triumph.
Speaking to the-AFC.com more than a decade on, Cornthwaite recounts the tale of his own goal in the first leg of the 2008 AFC Champions League quarter-final against Kashima Antlers, and how he went from villain to hero just a week later.
