Kuala Lumpur: Ivan Toney's strike for Al Ahli Saudi FC against Al Ain has been voted as the best goal of Matchday Five of the AFC Champions League Elite™ 2024/25 (West).

Toney, who struck the first of his two goals in the 70th minute as Al Ahli took a 2-1 win, garnered almost 90 percent of the votes.

Australia's Ryan, Deng find new teams

Kuala Lumpur: Australia goalkeeper Mathew Ryan has signed for French club Racing Club de Lens until the end of the season as his Socceroos teammate Thomas Deng joined J1 League outfit Yokohama F Marinos.

Ryan signed a short-term deal with the Ligue 1 side on Tuesday after leaving Serie A’s AS Roma and Lens will be his 10th European club since leaving Central Coast Mariners to join Club Brugge in Belgium in 2013.

Mizunuma leaves F Marinos to join Newcastle Jets

Newcastle: Kota Mizunuma has left AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 runners-up Yokohama F Marinos to join Newcastle Jets, the A-League outfit announced on Tuesday.

The 34-year-old, who played nine times during the J1 League side’s run to the final in May, has signed with the Australian club until the end of the current season with an option to extend his deal for a further year.

Man City sign Uzbekistan defender Khusanov from Lens

London: Manchester City on Monday announced the signing of Uzbekistan centre-back Abdukodir Khusanov from French club Lens for a reported fee of 40 million euros (US$42 million) plus add-ons.

Khusanov, the first player from Uzbekistan to join a Premier League club, has signed a four-and-a-half year deal at the Etihad.
