Qualifiers - Group C: Bangladesh 3-4 Hong Kong, China

Dhaka:  Hong Kong, China edged a fighting Bangladesh 4-3 in a thrilling AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™ Qualifiers Final Round Group C match at the National Stadium Dhaka on Thursday.

Bangladesh had fought back from two goals down to draw level but hat-trick hero Raphael Merkies struck deep into added time to move Hong Kong, China to the top of the group on seven points, two ahead of Singapore.

Saleh Abu Al Shammat cancelled out Kevin Diks’ 11th minute penalty before a double by Feras Al Brikan sent the Saudis on their way to victory, although the Indonesians were given hope by a second Diks spot-kick and a late red card for Mohammed Kanno
 
That forced Renard’s side to survive a frantic finale to take all three points to put themselves in a strong position ahead of Tuesday’s meeting with Iraq as the West Asian side chase qualification for the FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico next year.

Doha: Oman head coach Carlos Queiroz and his Qatar counterpart Julen Lopetegui viewed it as a point gained after their sides battled to a goalless draw in their AFC Asian Qualifiers™ – Road to 26 Playoffs Group A tie at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium on Wednesday.

While Qatar dominated possession, Oman's defensive resilience limited them to just two shots on target with the result leaving both teams' qualification hopes in their own hands.

Oman play the United Arab Emirates on Saturday, who then face Qatar three days later.
