Kumagai, Carpenter final-bound after Lyon edge PSG
Bilbao: Saki Kumagai is on track for a fifth successive UEFA Women’s Champions League title after she helped Olympique Lyonnais defeat Paris Saint-Germain in an all-French semi-final on Wednesday.
The Japan captain played all 90 minutes as Lyon secured a 1-0 win, with Wendie Renard’s 67th-minute goal setting up a meeting with VfL Wolfsburg in Sunday’s decider in San Sebastien.
The result is also good news for 20-year-old Australia full-back Ellie Carpenter – who edged closer to becoming her country’s first UEFA Women’s Champions League winner despite being an unused substitute in Wednesday’s match.
West Asia Wrap: Al Hilal bounce back, Kuwait SC close in on title
Riyadh: 2019 AFC Champions League winners Al Hilal SFC, having suffered a rare defeat last time out, bounced back in style with a 2-0 win over Al Faisaly on Tuesday to edge closer to the 2019-20 Saudi Pro League title.
Kuwait SC, meanwhile, also closed in on the Kuwait Premier League title after securing their 11th victory of the season to widen the gap with closest rivals Al Qadsia.
