Al Ain: Reigning AFC Player of the Year Abdelkarim Hassan is not expecting another easy ride at the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 after helping Qatar brush aside DPR Korea in Al Ain on Sunday to move into pole position in Group E.
Hassan started the game after only featuring for the final 30 minutes of Qatar’s opening win against Lebanon and was among the scorers as Felix Sanchez’s side notched up a comfortable 6-0 victory over the east Asians.
Almoez Ali netted a record equalling four times while Boualem Khoukhi was also on the scoresheet as Qatar recorded their biggest-ever win at the AFC Asian Cup Finals, but with Saudi Arabia up next and then the Round of 16, Hassan knows the challenges ahead will be significantly greater.

Al Ain: Qatar’s rapid-fire start was the key to their 6-0 defeat of DPR Korea in Al Ain on Sunday afternoon, said coach Felix Sanchez, after his side secured their place in the knockout rounds of the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019.
Almoez Ali scored four in a comprehensive victory for the West Asians, who moved to the top of Group E ahead of their meeting with Saudi Arabia on Thursday, which will determine who claims pole position in the standings.
Ali put the Qataris in front after just nine minutes and the Al Duhail striker doubled the advantage just two minutes later to effectively end the resistance of DPR Korea. Boualem Khoukhi and Abdelkarim Hassan also put their names on the scoresheet as Sanchez’s side cruised to victory.

Al Ain: Qatar hotshot Almoez Ali etched himself into the AFC Asian Cup record books on Sunday as he scored four times to equal the record for the most goals netted by a player in a single match at the Continent’s premier competition.
The 22-year-old Al Duhail SC forward was in rampant form throughout the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 Group E encounter with DPR Korea, scoring twice in the first half before adding two more after the break as Qatar recorded a 6-0 win.

Al Ain: Almoez Ali was the star of the show on Sunday afternoon as he scored four and set up a fifth in Qatar’s 6-0 defeat of DPR Korea as Felix Sanchez’s side moved to the top of the Group E standings and into the knockout stage of the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019.
The Al Duhail striker, now the tournament’s leading scorer with five goals in two games, shone as his partnership with Akram Afif down the left destroyed the DPR Korean defence repeatedly while Boualem Khoukhi and Abdelkarim Hassan also put their names on the scoresheet.
Victory means Sanchez’s side have secured themselves a top two finish in the group and their win also ensures Saudi Arabia will progress to the last 16. The teams face off on Thursday to determine who will top the group, with Qatar’s huge win meaning a draw in Abu Dhabi will be enough to take pole position.

Abu Dhabi: Japan head coach Hajime Moriyasu believes his side are just one of several teams who have what it takes to win the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 title.
Genki Haraguchi’s first-half penalty helped the Samurai Blue seal a narrow 1-0 win over Oman on Sunday, a result which – along with Uzbekistan’s subsequent defeat of Turkmenistan – saw Japan go through to the Round of 16.
Although happy with his side’s progress thus far, the former Sanfrecce Hiroshima boss was quick to add that there are other nations emerging who he feels also have the potential to become champions of Asia.
