The two 2024 quarter-finalist sides put on a show at Indonesia Arena, taking turns to be ahead before Iraq, powered by Salim Faisal’s brace, earned a winning start.

The result sees Indonesia joining Iraq - who defeated Kyrgyz Republic 4-2 in the earlier match - as the early pacesetters in the group.

The result places Diego Giustozzi’s side at the top of the group, ahead of Thailand on goal difference after the latter defeated Lebanon 2-0 in the earlier fixture.
