Jakarta: Iraq struck with less than a minute on the clock to edge Korea Republic 3-2 in their AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026™ Group A tie on Thursday.

The last gasp win took Iraq to six points and with Indonesia defeating Kyrgyz Republic 5-3 in the group’s later tie, both teams confirmed their quarter-final tickets with a match to spare and will square off on Saturday to decide who tops the group.

Group A: Kyrgyz Republic 3-5 Indonesia

Jakara: Indonesia booked their spot in the AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026™ quarter-finals after a thrilling 5-3 win against Kyrgyz Republic in their Group A tie on Thursday.

The result meant that Indonesia and Iraq - who beat Korea Republic 3-2 earlier in the day - are assured of a top two finish with the two to square off on Saturday to decide the group winners.

Jakarta: Vietnam notched a comfortable 2-0 win over Lebanon in their AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026™ Group B tie on Thursday.

With Thailand defeating Kuwait 6-1 in the later tie, the win meant Diego Giustozzi’s men confirmed their ticket to the quarter-finals with a match to spare and will meet their Southeast Asian rivals on Saturday to decide the group winners.

Jakarta: Muhammad Osamanmusa starred with four goals as Thailand defeated Kuwait 6-1 to seal their AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026™ knockout stage spot with a match to spare on Thursday.

The victory for the 2024 runners-up meant Vietnam also confirmed their quarter-final ticket, with the sides to meet on Saturday to decide the Group B winners.

Bekmurodov credits heroics to Tajikistan defence

Jakarta: Tajikistan’s Firuz Bekmurodov’s exceptional display against Uzbekistan secured his side a point in their opening  AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026™ tie but the keeper said all credit should go towards their defence. 

The 28-year-old pulled off numerous saves in their Group C tie to keep the high-pressing four-time finalists at bay and sent their attacking lineup of Muzaffar Akhadjonov, Anakshon Rakhmatov and Elbek Tulkinov home empty handed.

More to come from Japan, says Motoishi

Jakarta: Takehiro Motoishi believes Japan’s winning start to the AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026™ is an indication of better days to come.

Takehiro’s powerful fifth-minute opening goal was the start of his side’s emphatic 6-2 win over Australia in Group C, with the 27-year-old going on to earn Player of the Match honours for his tireless performance.

The goal was more meaningful as this is not only Takehiro’s first ever Finals, it was also the first time Japan had opened their group stage campaign with a win since 2022.
