Jakarta: Japan signalled their title intentions by overpowering Australia 6-2 in their opening AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026™ Group C match on Wednesday.

The four-time champions produced a dominating performance at the Indonesia Arena and displayed their attacking talent with six different players finding the back of the net.

Jakarta: Afghanistan opened their AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026™ Group D campaign with an impressive 3-0 win against Saudi Arabia at Jakarta International Velodrome on Wednesday.

Jakarta: Salim Faisal led by example as he grabbed a brace to help Iraq defeat a stubborn Kyrgyz Republic 4-2 in their AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026™ Group A tie on Tuesday.

A cautious start to the match nearly cost Iraq the points with Kyrgyz Republic taking the lead seconds after the opening whistle but Faisal rallied his teammates to ensure that the West Asian side come away with the win.

Jakarta: Vietnam captain Nguyen Manh Dung’s goal just before half-time in their Group B opener against Kuwait at the AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026™ was the moment that turned the match to his side’s advantage.

The goal came at a time when team morale had started to flag after Kuwait scored their third in the 19th minute - this after Vietnam had come from 2-0 down to level.

The strike galvanised the Southeast Asia side, and Manh Dung went on to net a second as he led his teammates to a dominating second-half performance that ended 5-4 in their favour.

Practice makes perfect for Thailand's Worasak

Jakarta: Thailand’s Worasak Srirangpirot claimed the honour of scoring the first goal of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026™ and it will be one he’ll remember for a long time.

The striker produced a cheeky backheel in the 27th minute that left Lebanon keeper Karim Joueidi rooted to the spot. His goal, and the following one by fellow striker Muhammad Osamanmusa, gave the Southeast Asian side a 2-0 win in their Group B opener.
