Group C: Stalemate dashes Tajikistan’s hopes

Jakarta: Tajikistan’s dreams of reaching the knockout stage were shattered after they were held to a 1-1 stalemate by Australia in their AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026™ Group C match on Sunday.

The draw meant that Tajikistan finished on two points, two adrift of Central Asian rivals Uzbekistan, who were beaten 2-1 by Japan in the other tie.

Group C: Japan fight back to beat Uzbekistan

Jakarta: Japan roared in the second half to defeat Uzbekistan 2-1 to top Group C of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026™ on Sunday.

The four-time champions will play either Afghanistan or Islamic Republic of Iran from Group D in the quarter-finals.

Defeat for Uzbekistan did not come at a cost as they advanced as the runners-up with the Group D winners their last eight opponents.

Jakarta: The head coaches of Indonesia and Iraq applauded their respective sides following their 1-1 draw in Group A of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026™ on Saturday.

The battling encounter ended with Indonesia topping the group, with Hector Souto and Joao Carlos - together with the more than 10,000 fans at the Indonesia Arena - treated to an exhilarating match.

Thailand’s Rakphol, Vietnam’s Giustozzi satisfied with group stage performances

Jakarta: Rakhphol Sainetngam and Diego Giustozzi expressed satisfaction with how Thailand and Vietnam respectively performed in the AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026™ group stage.

Krit Aransanyalak’s 36th minute strike secured Thailand a 1-0 win against their ASEAN rivals as they topped Group B with nine points, with both sides advancing to the quarter-finals.
