Group C: Japan 2-3 Kyrgyz Republic

Bangkok: Kyrgyz Republic got their AFC Futsal Asian Cup Thailand™ 2024 Group C campaign off to a sensational start, defeating defending champions Japan 3-2 at the Bangkok Arena on Thursday.

Samat Dzhanat Uulu, Maksat Alimov and Kairat Kubanychov found the back of the net as Kyrgyz Republic staved off a late Japan fightback to take the points.
 
They play Tajikistan next on Saturday, while Japan will meet Korea Republic.

Bangkok: Tajikistan opened their AFC Futsal Asian Cup Thailand™ 2024 Group C campaign with an impressive 2-0 win over Korea Republic at the Bangkok Arena on Thursday.

First half goals from Idris Yorov and Fayzali Sardorov earned Tajikistan the win, with Kyrgz Republic to come next for them, while Korea Republic will face a stern test against defending champions Japan.

Bangkok: Islamic Republic of Iran got their AFC Futsal Asian Cup Thailand™ 2024 Group D campaign off to a strong start at Hua Mark Indoor Stadium with a 3-1 win over debutants Afghanistan on Thursday.

A brace from Saeid Ahmadabasi and a strike from Mahdi Karimi proved to be the difference as Iran eventually broke down hard-working opponents who restricted the Asian futsal powerhouses to just the one goal at half-time, before Mehran Ghorlami wrote his own little piece of history with his nation's maiden goal at the tournament.

Bangkok: Early frontrunners Thailand will face a buoyant Myanmar in Group A of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup™ Thailand 2024, while China PR and Vietnam will be searching for their first win at Hua Mark Indoor Stadium on Friday.

Thailand defeated China PR 3-1 on Matchday One, while Myanmar created history after claiming a point from Vietnam in a 1-1 stalemate.

The Japanese squeezed past China PR with a 1-0 win over their East Asian neighbours in their Group B opener on Tuesday, with Kuryu Matsuki’s early goal enough to pick up the points despite playing much of the game with 10 men.

Cerezo Osaka centre-half Nishio was sent off in the 17th minute and will miss the game against the UAE as a result, with Seiji Kimura likely to deputise at the heart of the defence alongside Kawasaki Frontale’s Kota Takai, who impressed in the win over the Chinese.
