Qualifiers - Group G: Iraq 2-1 Malaysia; Uzbekistan 6-1 Cambodia

Fergana: Uzbekistan and Iraq are the early pacesetters in Group G after both picked up wins in Group G of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup™ Thailand 2024 Qualifiers at the Samo Sports Complex on Saturday.

Iraq kicked things off in Fergana with a 2-1 win over Malaysia while Uzbekistan produced a comeback to beat Cambodia 6-1.

#ACFutsal2024 Qualifiers - MD1 Results & Reports

Kuala Lumpur: The road to ultimate hardcourt glory on the Continent begins on Saturday when the AFC Futsal Asian Cup™ Thailand 2024 Qualifiers get underway.

Eight groups – six of four teams and two comprising three – will be played in a single round-robin format over three matchdays between October 7 and 13 at centralised venues to determine the final cast for the 17th edition of the tournament, set to be staged in Thailand from April 17 to 28, 2024.
 
Fifteen teams will join hosts Thailand in the Finals so stay updated on all the action with the-AFC.com.

Korea Republic make it three in a row

Hangzhou: Korea Republic retained the gold medal at the 19th Asian Games on Saturday as Hwang Sun-hong’s side handed Japan a 2-1 defeat at Hangzhou’s Huanglong Sports Centre Stadium to seal a third consecutive title and six in total.

Cho young-wook hit the winner for the Koreans in the 56th minute after Jeong Woo-yeong had cancelled out Kotaro Uchino’s second minute opener as the Japanese fell in the final to their near-neighbours for the second tournament in a row.
 
Korea Republic had prevailed in the 2018 final in Jakarta having also won the title in Incheon four years earlier and this year’s success comes after victories in 1986 as well as in 1978 and 1970, when they shared the gold with DPR Korea and Myanmar respectively.
