#U17WAC Qualifiers cast eye progress to China 2026

Kuala Lumpur: The journey to reach the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup™ China 2026 kicks off on October 13 (Monday) for 26 teams as they target a berth at the expanded Finals.

Eight places are available through the Qualifiers at the 10th edition of the competition, which will feature 12 teams—four more than at each of the previous four editions.

Hopefuls learn Road to China 2026 pathways

Kuala Lumpur: The 27 teams vying for places in the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup™ China 2026 discovered their challengers following the Qualifiers Draw at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday.

The sides were divided into eight groups - three of four teams each and five of three — to contest a single round-robin centralised league format from October 13 to 17, 2025.
 
The eight group winners will progress to the 10th edition of the Finals, where they will be joined by the four AFC representatives from the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025 who have automatically qualified, namely DPR Korea, Japan, Korea Republic and China PR, to form a 12-strong line-up — four more than the previous edition.

Korea Republic finished third after edging China 2-1 in the playoff with the top three finishers qualifying for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Dominican Republic 2024.

Bali: DPR Korea defeated Japan 1-0 in the final at the Capt. I Wayan Dipta Stadium on Sunday to seal a perfect AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup™ Indonesia 2024 campaign. 

Song Sung Gwon’s team lifted the title with a perfect five wins without conceding a single goal, producing yet another dominating display in the final  with Jon Il Chong’s second half effort settling the contest.
