Qualifiers - Group G: Kuwait 1-3 Yemen; Cambodia 0-8 Japan

Phnom Penh: Japan placed themselves in pole position in Group G of the AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027™ Qualifiers with an 8-0 win against Cambodia on Thursday.

With two wins, Japan only have to avoid defeat against Yemen on Sunday to confirm their ticket to the Finals.

Yemen revived their hopes with a 3-1 win against Kuwait in the earlier match.

#AFCU20 China 2027 Qualifiers: MD2 Results & Reports

Kuala Lumpur: The journey towards the AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027™ continues on Thursday with Matchday Two of the Qualifiers.

The Qualifiers offer 15 berths at next year’s Finals and sees the maiden implementation of a two-tiered format.

The Qualification Phase divides 31 teams across eight groups, with all group winners and the seven best second-placed teams advancing to join hosts China PR at the 43rd edition of the AFC U20 Asian Cup™. Meanwhile, the six lowest-ranked fourth-placed teams will be relegated to the Development Phase of the next Qualifiers.

Concurrently, the Development Phase features 11 teams that are split into three groups, with the first and second-placed teams of each group to be promoted to the Qualification Phase of the next Qualifiers.

Ulaanbaatar: Captain Levi Berg scored a goal in each half as Guam handed the Northern Mariana Islands a 3-0 defeat in Group I of the AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027™ qualifiers at the MFF Football Center in Ulaanbaatar on Thursday.

The Guam captain netted in the 28th and 50th minutes with substitute Kian Rivera heading in his side’s third eight minutes from time to ensure his side secured a winning start to the group phase.

The result guarantees Guam a top two finish in the three-team standings and secures the country’s progress from the development phase to the qualification rounds for AFC U20 Asian Cup 2029.
