Qualifiers: MD4 Results & Reports

Kuala Lumpur: Friday's action in the AFC U20 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2023 concluded with every thing still to play for when the action resumes in the nine groups on Sunday.

Although several teams are comfortably placed following Friday's action, they still have some work to do to confirm their places alongside hosts Uzbekistan in the Finals.

The 10 group winners and five best second-placed teams will advance with Group H to be played in October.

Dammam: Saudi Arabia defeated Myanmar 5-0 on Friday to set up an enticing showdown with China PR in Group A of the AFC U20 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2023 Qualifiers.

The two will square off on Sunday to decide the group winners, which will mean an automatic spot in the Finals. 

Tournament hosts Uzbekistan, meanwhile, signed off in style with a 2-1 win over China PR.

Qualifiers - Group B: Qatar continue winning momentum; Bahrain see off Bhutan

Arad: Qatar defeated Bangladesh 3-0 to make it three consecutive wins, while Bahrain earned a tough 2-1 win over Bhutan in Group B of the AFC U20 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2023 Qualifiers at the Sheikh Ali Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Stadium on Friday.

Qatar have a two-point lead over Bahrain, with the two teams to face off on Sunday to decide the group winners.

Qualifiers - Group C: Japan stay perfect, Yemen power past Guam

Vientiane: Japan beat Palestine 8-0 to stay perfect in Group C of the AFC U20 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2023 Qualifiers, while Yemen defeated Guam 10-1 on Friday. 

The result sees Japan sitting comfortably in first place with nine points, with Yemen trailing by two points.

Qualifiers - Group D: Jordan defeat Syria; Chinese Taipei surge

Amman: Jordan edged Syria 2-1 to keep their winning streak going in Group D of the AFC U20 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2023 Qualifiers, while Chinese Taipei were at their best to defeat Northern Mariana Islands (NMI) 9-0 on Friday.

Jordan stayed perfect with three wins from three matches to lead the standings on nine points, leaving Syria’s hopes in the balance.  

Chinese Taipei, meanwhile, pulled themselves back into the running for the sole automatic ticket to the Finals.

Qualifiers - Group E: Korea Republic power past Mongolia; Malaysia defeat Sri Lanka

Ulaanbaatar: Korea Republic defeated Mongolia 7-0 while Malaysia notched a 3-0 victory over Sri Lanka in Group E of the AFC U20 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2023 Qualifiers at the MFF Stadium on Friday.

Korea Republic lead the standings with six points, two ahead of Malaysia, with the two teams to square off on Sunday.

Surabaya: Vietnam defeated Timor-Leste 4-0, while Indonesia cruised to a 5-1 win over Hong Kong in Group F of the AFC U20 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2023 Qualifiers at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium on Friday.

Vietnam and Indonesia are on six points and are set for a collision course on Sunday, with only the top team from the group assured of a place in Uzbekistan 2023.

Salalah: Thailand took charge of Group G of the AFC U20 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2023 Qualifiers with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Philippines on Friday.

Afghanistan, meanwhile, breathed life into their campaign with a 1-0 defeat of hosts Oman.

Qualifiers - Group I: Tajikistan revive hopes; Singapore, Cambodia share spoils

Dushanbe: Tajikistan defeated Lebanon 4-0 to bounce back into contention in Group I of the AFC U20 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2023 Qualifiers, while Singapore and Cambodia settled for a 1-1 draw on Friday. 

Two goals in either half saw Lebanon secure their first win to overtake Lebanon for top spot. 

Meanwhile, the day’s earlier match between Singapore and Cambodia wasn’t the result either side had hoped for with Singapore now on two points, while Cambodia earned their first after having lost their opener to Lebanon.

Bishkek: Islamic Republic of Iran are in pole position for a place in the AFC U20 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2023 Finals after a resounding 8-0 win over Brunei Darussalam in Group J of the Qualifiers on Friday.

Group hosts Kyrgyz Republic, meanwhile, got their campaign back on track with a 2-0 defeat of United Arab Emirates.
