Iran, who are looking to defend the title won in 2017, will face Lebanon in the quarter-finals while Afghanistan will take on Group B winners Thailand on Tuesday.

Hong Kong, down 3-0 by the third minute, clawed their way back to 3-2 but Iran turned on the power in the second half to score a resounding win as they look to defend their title.

The win meant Afghanistan are through to the quarter-finals and will face hosts Islamic Republic of Iran on Sunday for the battle for the top spot, while Hong Kong bow out from the tournament.

Afghanistan were in total control in the opening minutes, as they garnered the lion’s share of possession and forced Hong Kong goalkeeper Justin Law Ho Yeung into early action, but the East Asian defence held firm.

Thailand will go up against the runners-up of Group A, either Islamic Republic of Iran or Afghanistan, who play later on Sunday, while Lebanon will take on the victors of that tie in Tuesday's quarter-finals.

Japan, who defeated Tajikistan 3-1 in their opening match, will play Group D runners-up Iraq in the quarter-finals, while Vietnam will face Indonesia.

Despite having sealed their places in the quarter-finals, both teams began brightly as they went in search of an early goal.

Indonesia will face the Group C runners-up - either Japan or Vietnam - with Iraq to play the group winners.

With their places in the knockout rounds confirmed after both teams had beaten Chinese Taipei, Sunday's tie was to decide the group winners.
