Jafari hails IR Iran’s resolve

Amman: Marziyeh Jafari was a proud head coach after Islamic Republic of Iran defied the odds to qualify for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™ on Saturday.

Having lost 3-1 to Lebanon on Matchday Four, only victory against Jordan would see Iran qualify and the team rose to the occasion with a 2-1 triumph to seal a second successive appearance on the continental stage.

Kuala Lumpur: Islamic Republic of Iran were the final team to confirm their ticket to the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™ after topping Group A of the Qualifiers on Saturday.

Iran will join 11 other teams for the final draw which will be held in Sydney on July 29.
