Milicic proud of China PR’s resilience

Perth: Ante Milicic praised his China PR squad for remaining focused in the 2-0 extra-time win against Chinese Taipei in their AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™ quarter-final at the Perth Rectangular Stadium on Saturday.

After being frustrated for 90 minutes, China PR finally found a way through thanks to Shao Ziqin, with an own goal from Chen Ying-Hui taking the defending champions through and earning them their ticket to the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027.

Perth: Head coach Prasobchoke Chokemor urged his players to hold their heads high despite Chinese Taipei’s AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™ journey coming to an end on Saturday.

The East Asian side fell 2-0 to China PR after taking the defending champions to extra time at the Perth Rectangular Stadium, with Prasobchoke saying his players can be proud of their performance and to not consider that their mission was over, with qualification for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027 still within reach.

Sydney: Shin Sang-woo showered praise on experienced midfielder Ji So-yun after her excellent display propelled Korea Republic into the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™ semi-finals on Saturday.

The evergreen Ji ran the show as the East Asian side powered to a 6-0 win against Uzbekistan in their quarter-final tie at Stadium Australia, with the victory also confirming their ticket to the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027. 

The 35-year-old capped her performance with a wonderful goal following a flowing team move in the 72nd minute.
