Q-final: China PR stay on course for title defence

Perth: China PR needed extra-time to defeat Chinese Taipei 2-0 in their AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™ quarter-final at the Perth Rectangular Stadium on Saturday.

Shao Ziqin's strike and an own goal by Chen Ying-Hui set up a mouthwatering last four meeting with 2010 winners Australia on Tuesday with defending champions China PR also securing their ticket to the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027.

Defeat for Chinese Taipei means they will travel to Gold Coast to face DPR Korea in the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027 playoff on Thursday.

Q-final: Korea Republic power through

Sydney: A dominant Korea Republic cruised into the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™ semi-finals with a 6-0 win against Uzbekistan in their last eight tie at Stadium Australia on Saturday.

Victory secured Korea Republic a showdown against either Japan or the Philippines on Wednesday and also booked their FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027 seat.

Uzbekistan, meanwhile, will attempt to qualify for the global showpiece via the playoffs - with the Central Asian side to meet the losers of the Japan-Philippines quarter-final.

Perth: Sam Kerr credited Australia’s mental resilience for their hard-fought 2-1 quarter-final victory over DPR Korea in the quarter-finals of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026 on Friday. 

Kerr’s intervention in the ninth minute led to the opener from Alanna Kennedy before the Matildas skipper struck the ball into the back of the net in the second half, with Australia then having to fend off sustained pressure from DPR Korea.
