Tashkent: Korea Republic became the first team to successfully navigate the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022 Qualifiers, sealing their place at next year’s Finals with a 4-0 win over Uzbekistan on Tuesday.
Level on the group standings coming into the match, Korea Republic went ahead through an early Nozima Kamoltoeva own goal, then surged clear after half-time with Choe Yu-ri doubling their lead before super sub Moon Mi-ra scored twice in the shadows of full-time.
The win takes Korea Republic to their 13th successive Asian Finals, extending an interrupted record of participation dating back to 1991, while Uzbekistan’s bid to qualify for the first time since 2003 fell at the final hurdle despite a strong showing against a side ranked 18th in the world.
