Mumbai: Much of the focus will be on head coach Alen Stajcic, but the Philippines boss insists he will put his personal feelings to one side when he takes on former employers Australia in a blockbuster AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022™ match on Monday. 

With Australia racking up 18 goals against Indonesia, and the Philippines fresh from a win against Thailand, the match pits first against second in Group B, with the winners at Mumbai Football Arena all but certain to advance to the knockout stage with a game to spare.

Preview - Group C: Myanmar v Korea Republic

Pune: Korea Republic will look to make it two consecutive wins when they play Myanmar in Group C of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022™ on Monday. 

Korea Republic are currently second in the standings, behind Japan on goal difference, while Vietnam and Myanmar are third and fourth respectively. 

A win for Korea Republic, if followed by a Japanese victory over Vietnam in the group’s second match on Monday, will mean both the East Asian teams will book their quarter-final spots with a match to spare.

We badly wanted to beat Thailand, says Philippines match-winner McDaniel

Navi Mumbai: The Philippines's victory over Thailand on Friday, said Chandler McDaniel, was due to their desire to end their long winless run against their Southeast Asian rivals.   

The Philippines were locked in a 0-0 stalemate with nine minutes left but McDaniel came to their rescue, firing a low drive that made its way past Thailand goalkeeper Waraporn Boonsing as they got their AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022™️ Group B campaign off to a flying start.

The goal was just reward for McDaniel, who burst onto the international scene at the AFC Women's Asian Cup India 2022 qualifiers against Nepal - a game in which she provided assists which contributed to the goals scored by Tahnai Annis and Camille Wilson.
