Shui's half-time pep talk inspires China PR to historic victory

Navi Mumbai: An inspiring team talk from head coach Shui Qingxia did the job as China PR  came from two goals down to edge Korea Republic 3-2 in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022™ final on Sunday. 

Shui’s side trailed 2-0 at half-time after Choe Yu-ri and Ji So-yun had put Korea Republic ahead. However, China PR scored three goals in the second half courtesy of Tang Jiali,  Zhang Linyan and Xiao Yuyi to seal the thrilling win.

AFC President hails nine-time AFC Women’s Asian Cup™ champions China PR

Navi Mumbai: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa has congratulated China PR on winning the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022™ following a 3-2 victory over the Korea Republic on Sunday at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. This was the Steel Roses’ record-extending ninth title in the Continental premier women’s national team tournament. 

The AFC President also extended his praise to China PR, Korea Republic, Japan and history-makers the Philippines and Vietnam on qualifying for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023 where they will be joined by co-host Australia.

Navi Mumbai: Vietnam head coach Mai Duc Chung praised his players for booking a place in the FIFA Women's World Cup for the first time after their 2-1 victory against Chinese Taipei at the D.Y. Patil Stadium on Sunday.

Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy was the hero for Vietnam, scoring the winner after Su Hy-Ysuan had cancelled out Chuong Thi Kieu's first half opener.

Navi Mumbai: China PR came from two goals down to defeat Korea Republic 3-2 in a pulsating AFC Women's Asian Cup India 2022™ final at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Sunday.

Korea Republic looked to be cruising to their first crown after taking a 2-0 lead at half-time but China PR fought back after the break through goals from Tang Jiali, Zhang Linyan and Xiao Yuyi - who netted the winner deep into added time to seal her side a record-extending ninth title.

China PR's Zhu Yu picked as Best Goalkeeper of AFC Women's Asian Cup India 2022™

Mumbai: China PR's Zhu Yu was named as the Best Goalkeeper of AFC Women's Asian Cup India 2022™ on Sunday.

Zhu was in top form throughout the tournament as China PR won the AFC Women's Asian Cup for a record extending ninth time. 

The award was fitting reward for a player who had been instrumental for China PR, with the Wuhan Jianghan custodian only conceding five goals in India 2022.

Mumbai: As China PR celebrated their historic victory, midfielder Wang Shanshan was rewarded for a superb individual campaign with the AFC Women's Asian Cup India 2022™ Most Valuable Player Award on Sunday.

Wang Shanshan’s honour came after China PR defeated Korea Republic 3-2 in a gripping final at the D.Y Patil Stadium to win a record-extending ninth AFC Women's Asian Cup title.

The award was due recognition for Wang Shanshan who had been a consistent performer throughout the campaign which saw China PR win the trophy after a 16 year wait.

with her seven-goal haul proving unbeatable.

Although Australia's campaign was ended in the quarter-finals by Korea Republic, Kerr's phenomenal form in the group stage secured her the award.
