Preview - 3rd Place Playoff: China PR v IR Iran

Hohhot: Fresh off the disappointment of falling short in the semi-finals, China PR and the Islamic Republic of Iran will have to regroup for one last battle at the AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup™ China 2025 on Saturday.

The final qualification berth for the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup Philippines 2025 is on the line at the Hohhot Sports Centre, with the winners of the third-place playoff to join finalists Japan and Thailand at the maiden edition in November.

While the head coaches of China PR and Iran acknowledged that the campaign has taken its toll on their teams, both physically and mentally, they are confident that their charges are ready to step up again.

Two-time runners-up Japan will face Thailand in Saturday’s final while Iran, who won the previous two editions, will face China PR in the third-place playoff, with the winners to qualify for the FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup Philippines 2025.

Hohhot: Thailand made history at the AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup™ China 2025 on Thursday evening by defeating China PR in an enthralling encounter to advance to the final.

The 3-2 victory meant that the Southeast Asians qualified for the inaugural FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup Philippines 2025 by claiming one of the three available berths here.

Thanatorn Santanaprasit’s side, whose best finish was third place at each of the previous two editions, had to dig deep to emerge victorious and will meet Japan, who defeated Islamic Republic of Iran in their last four tie, on Saturday.
