Bishkek: Uzbekistan are top of Group A of the AFC Asian Qualifiers™ – Road to 26 after two wins but what has pleased head coach Srecko Katanec more is his side’s resilience over both matchdays.

For the second successive match, Uzbekistan had to dig deep before getting the result as they fell behind twice to Kyrgyz Republic on Tuesday but showed grit to walk away with a 3-2 win from the Dolen Omurzakov Stadium.

Resilience was something Uzbekistan - seeking to qualify for an inaugural appearance at the FIFA World Cup - had also needed in last week’s 1-0 win over DPR Korea and Katanec was pleased to see his players' determination and resolve but admitted his team need to be defensively solid.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has confirmed that the upcoming editions of the Confederation’s two marquee events – the AFC Annual Awards 2023 and the AFC Member Associations and Regional Associations Presidents’ and General Secretaries’ Conference 2024 – will be held in Seoul, Korea Republic.

For the first time ever, both flagship events will be held in the same city in successive fashion with the AFC Annual Awards Seoul 2023 scheduled to take place on October 29, 2024 at the Grand Peace Palace at the Kyung Hee University whilst the three-day AFC Member Associations and Regional Associations Presidents’ and General Secretaries’ Conference 2024 will follow from October 30 to November 1 at the Conrad Seoul.
