R32: Kim double sends DPR Korea through

Doha: Two first half Kim Yu Jin goals secured DPR Korea a 2-1 win against Venezuela in their FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 Round of 32 tie on Saturday.

Having had to dig deep to stave off a second half fightback from Venezuela, DPR Korea’s reward is a last-16 meeting with Japan, who defeated South Africa 3-0 earlier on Saturday.

R32: Japan power past South Africa

Doha: Japan advanced to the Round of 16 of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 with a 3-0 win over South Africa on Saturday.

After a goalless first half in their Round of 32 tie, Japan went into overdrive following the break and will meet DPR Korea - who defeated Venezuela 2-1 - on Tuesday for a place in the quarter-finals.

Doha: Substitute goalkeeper Nematulloh Rustamjonov was the hero as Uzbekistan edged Croatia 4-3 on penalties after their FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 Round of 32 tie ended 1-1 on Saturday.

Rustamjonov, who came on in the 88th minute, saved Raul Kumar’s spot-kick as reigning AFC U17 Asian Cup™ titleholders Uzbekistan set up a Round of 16 meeting with European champions Italy on Tuesday.

Yangon: DPR Korea’s Naegohyang Women’s FC produced a sparkling performance to defeat ISPE WFC of Myanmar 3-0 in their AFC Women’s Champions League™ 2025/26 match on Saturday to seal their place in the quarter-finals.

The win ensured Naegohyang finished second in Group C on six points, one behind Japan’s Tokyo Verdy Beleza while ISPE ended their campaign with a third straight defeat.

Yangon: Tokyo Verdy Beleza advanced to the knockout stage after playing to a 0-0 stalemate with Suwon FC Women in their AFC Women’s Champions League™ 2025/26 tie on Saturday. 

The result meant Tokyo Verdy topped Group C with seven points while Suwon finished third after Naegohyang Women’s FC of DPR Korea defeated Myanmar’s ISPE WFC 3-0 to take second place.

Suwon will now have to wait for the conclusion of the other two groups to know if they can advance to the quarter-finals as one of the two best third-placed sides.
