Korea Republic join Uzbekistan in knockout stage

Mendoza: Korea Republic sealed their spot in the FIFA U20 World Cup Argentina 2023 Round of 16 after a 0-0 stalemate against Gambia in their final Group F tie on Sunday.

The result meant the Young Taeguk Warriors remained unbeaten and finished second behind Gambia with France, who defeated Honduras 3-1, third.
 
Korea Republic will meet Ecuador in the Round of 16 on Thursday while Uzbekistan, Asia’s other representative in the knockout stage, will play  Israel on Tuesday.

Japan suffer setback

Mendoza: Japan's FIFA U20 World Cup Argentina 2023 hopes suffered a setback after a 2-1 defeat to Israel in their final Group C tie on Saturday.

The result meant Israel finished on four points, second behind Colombia with Japan third., with their haul ultimately not enough to advance to the Round of 16.

Nematjonov double sees Uzbekistan through to last 16

Santiago del Estero: Uzbekistan defeated Guatemala 2-0 thanks to a first-half brace from Shakhzodjon Nematjonov to finish second in Group A and qualify for the last 16 at the FIFA U-20 World Cup Argentina 2023.

The AFC U20 Asian Cup™ holders were confirmed as runners-up thanks to Argentina's 5-0 win over New Zealand.

Korea Republic fight back for valuable point, Iraq's hopes dashed

La Plata: Korea Republic fought back from two goals down to force a 2-2 draw against 10-man Honduras on Thursday to stay on track for the FIFA U20 World Cup Argentina 2023 knockout stage.

Iraq's hopes, however, were dashed after a 2-0 defeat to Tunisia.

Japan edged by Colombia

La Plata: Japan succumbed to defeat as Colombia came from behind  to beat the East Asian side 2-1 in Group C of the FIFA U20 World Cup Argentina 2023 on Wednesday.

The win sealed Colombia's place in the Round of 16 while Japan's fate is still very much in their hands after Senegal and Israel played to a 1-1 draw in the group's other match. 
 
Japan, who defeated Senegal 1-0 in their opening match, will advance even with a draw against Israel on Saturday should Senegal fail to defeat Colombia.

Uzbekistan impress against New Zealand to keep hopes alive

Santiago del Estero: Uzbekistan came from behind to hold New Zealand 2-2 to keep their hopes of advancing to the FIFA U20 World Cup Argentina 2023 knockout stage alive on Tuesday.

Down 2-0 by the 40th minute, Uzbekistan narrowed the deficit through Abbosbek Fayzullaev with Sherzod Esanov salvaging a point for the reigning AFC U20 Asian Cup™ holders in the third minute of added time. 
 
Uzbekistan play Guatemala in their final Group A tie on Friday with their fate very much in their own hands.

Mendoza: Korea Republic started their FIFA U-20 World Cup Argentina 2023 Group F campaign with a well-earned victory over France at Mendoza Stadium on Monday.

Iraq, however, found Uruguay hard to handle as they fell to a 4-0 defeat in Group E.

Group C: Matsuki earns Japan winning start

La Plata: A well-taken Kuryu Matsuki strike from the edge of the area proved enough for Japan to earn all three points from their opening FIFA U-20 World Cup Argentina 2023 encounter against Senegal at La Plata Stadium on Sunday.

Japan face Columbia - who defeated Israel 2-1 - next on Wednesday with a place in the knockout stage well within their reach.

Santiago del Estero: Uzbekistan were denied an opening victory as hosts Argentina came from behind to defeat the AFC U20 Asian Cup 2023™ winners 2-1 in their opening FIFA U20 World Cup 2023 Group A tie on Saturday. 

Goals from Alejo Veliz and Valentin Carboni helped Argentina take the three points after Makhundjon Makhamadjonov had given Uzbekistan a 23rd minute lead.
