Group A: Chile 0-2 Japan

Santiago: Japan moved within touching distance of a place in the Round of 16 of the FIFA U-20 World Cup Chile 2025 after defeating the hosts 2-0 on Tuesday.

The win kept Japan top of table in Group A, three points better than New Zealand and Chile and they only need to avoid a defeat in Friday’s clash against the Oceania side to qualify automatically.

Group B: Korea Republic 0-0 Paraguay

Valparaiso: Korea Republic had to be satisfied with a goalless draw with Paraguay as their hopes of advancing to the knockout stage of the FIFA U-20 World Cup Chile 2025 suffered a setback on Tuesday.

Defeated 2-1 by Ukraine in their opening Group B clash, Korea Republic failed to break down a Paraguay side who were reduced to 10 players just before the break.

Jeddah: UAE’s Shabab Al Ahli registered their first win after defeating Saudi Arabia’s Al Ittihad Club 1-0 in their AFC Champions League Elite™ 2025/26 tie at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium on Tuesday.

Saeid Ezatolahi’s first half header earned Paulo Sousa’s side the three points, having drawn 1-1 with Tractor FC in their opening match while Al Ittihad suffered their second consecutive defeat, having gone down 2-1 to Al Wahda FC two weeks ago.

Doha: Sharjah FC came from behind to force an entertaining 1-1 draw with Al Sadd SC in their AFC Champions League Elite™ 2025/26 tie at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium on Tuesday.

The hosts’ Akram Afif’s cracker of a shot in the 18th minute was cancelled out by the UAE side’s Caio Fernandes in the 73rd minute to give the teams a share of the points.

Iskandar Puteri: Yuki Soma missed a penalty as FC Machida Zelvia were held to a 0-0 draw by hosts Johor Darul Ta’zim at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium on Tuesday to leave both sides without a win after two rounds of the league phase in the AFC Champions League Elite™ 2025/26.

Japan international winger Soma hit the post from the spot after sending home goalkeeper Syihan Hazmi the wrong way in the 23rd minute as the J1 League side followed up their opening day draw with FC Seoul with another point.

The point collected was JDT’s first of the campaign after Xisco Munez’s side lost their first game against Southeast Asian rivals Buriram United two weeks ago in Thailand.

The win keeps the Jordan side top of the standings in Group C on six points with Turkmenistan's Ahal with none.
