Ciudad de Mexico: Co-hosts Mexico cemented top place in Group A with a perfect record as they defeated the Czechia 3-0 at the FIFA World Cup 2026 in the Estadio Azteca on Wednesday.

Mateo Chavez gave Mexico the lead in the 55th minute and Julian Quinones took advantage of disarray in the Czech defence six minutes later to extend the lead.
 
Alvaro Fidalgo completed a sparkling evening for the Mexicans as he smashed in a cross four minutes into added time.

Pulisic fitness boost as US seek knockout momentum against Turkey

Irvine: Christian Pulisic said on Wednesday he has recovered from his calf injury and the United States are eager for a third straight FIFA World Cup 2026 win against Turkey to take momentum into the knockout rounds.

The co-hosts have topped Group D with a game to spare, and their opposition in Los Angeles on Thursday has already been eliminated, making the game essentially a dead rubber.

But Pulisic, the United States' talisman forward, said that another group stage victory in front of boisterous home support would benefit the team heading into their last-32 match in Santa Clara, California against unknown opponents next Wednesday.

Miami Gardens: Vinicius Junior made it four goals in three games at the FIFA World Cup 2026 as Brazil cruised to a 3-0 victory over Scotland on Wednesday, sealing progress to the last 32 as Group C winners and leaving their opponents in danger of another first-round exit.

Real Madrid superstar Vinicius took advantage of a defensive howler to give Brazil an early lead in Miami and headed in another in first-half stoppage time.

Scotland were never really in it and Matheus Cunha got a third on the hour mark for the record five-time FIFA World Cup winners, who brought on Neymar towards the end for his first international appearance in over two-and-a-half years.

Atlanta: Morocco twice overcame the shock of conceding to Haiti to win a FIFA World Cup 2026 thriller 4-2 in Atlanta on Wednesday, but missed out on top spot in Group C to Brazil.

Haiti bowed out with their first FIFA World Cup goals for 52 years as a Yassine Bounou own goal and Wilson Isidor's stunning strike twice gave them the lead.
 
Achraf Hakimi and Ismael Saibari, with his third goal in as many games at the FIFA World Cup, levelled before half-time. Soufiane Rahimi was nearly brought to tears when the 30-year-old's deflected effort found the top corner to give Morocco the lead before Gessime Yassine rounded off the scoring.

Tuchel insists England remain on course despite Ghana draw

Foxborough: England head coach Thomas Tuchel admitted his team had lacked a cutting edge in a frustrating 0-0 draw with Ghana on Tuesday but insisted there were plenty of positive signs going forward in their quest to win the FIFA World Cup.

England had 79 percent of the possession but could not break down a determined Ghanaian defence in the Group L contest.

They also lacked the cutting edge which made the difference in their opening 4-2 win against Croatia in Dallas, having 19 attempts on goal but managing only three on target.
