Philadelphia: Matheus Cunha scored twice as Brazil eased past Haiti 3-0 on Friday to breathe life into their FIFA World Cup 2026 Group C campaign and close in on a spot in the last 32.

After a much-criticised display in their opening 1-1 draw with Morocco, the five-time world champions underlined the gulf in class with outsiders Haiti, who became the first country to exit this FIFA World Cup.

Foxborough: Ismael Saibari scored the fastest goal of the FIFA World Cup 2026 so far after just 71 seconds as Morocco beat Scotland 1-0 on Friday to close in on a place in the knockout rounds.

Saibari scored in Morocco's opening 1-1 draw with Brazil last weekend and his clinical finish with just over a minute gone settled a hard-fought, physical contest watched by a crowd of 64,146 at the Boston Stadium.

With four points from two games, Morocco are now primed to advance to the last 32 as they aim to at least match their historic run to the semi-finals in Qatar in 2022.
However, it was a sobering evening for Scotland and their army of fans who have taken over Boston during this FIFA World Cup, as their team never really tested Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou.

Chattanooga: Spain star Lamine Yamal said on Friday it is "too soon" for him to play a full 90 minutes as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury, ahead of the European champions' FIFA World Cup 2026 match against Saudi Arabia.

Luis de la Fuente's men were held to a surprise goalless draw by debutants Cabo Verde in their Group H opener and will be hoping to get up and running on Sunday when they face the Saudis.

On Monday, Barcelona winger Yamal made his first appearance since suffering the injury in mid-April, coming on as a 71st-minute substitute against Cabo Verde.

Sweden boss Potter targets redemption

Dallas: Graham Potter took charge of Sweden in October with both coach and team in need of a reset. Now they are one game from the FIFA World Cup 2026 knockout stage.

The Swedes defeated Tunisia 5-1 in their opening game in Mexico on Sunday to seize control of Group F, after the Netherlands were held 2-2 by Japan.

They will clinch qualification for the last 32 if they beat the Dutch in Houston on Saturday, and if they win and Japan fail to beat Tunisia they will top the group.
