Langerak makes Socceroos return, Arnold names newcomers
Sydney: Goalkeeper Mitch Langerak has been lured out of retirement for Australia’s pre-FIFA World Cup™ Qatar 2022 friendlies against New Zealand later this month as Socceroos head coach Graham Arnold named a 31-man squad that also features newcomers Garang Kuol and Jason Cummings.
Nagoya Grampus’ Langerak quit international football during the qualifiers due to Japan’s stringent COVID-19 travel restrictions, but has been convinced to return by Arnold to add competition to first-choice Mathew Ryan and World Cup qualifying hero Andrew Redmayne.
Son's form not a concern, says Korea Republic's Bento
Seoul: Paulo Bento says he is not concerned about Son Heung-min’s lack of goals in the Premier League after naming the Tottenham Hotspur attacker in his squad for Korea Republic’s friendlies against Costa Rica and Cameroon on Tuesday.
Son, who was joint top scorer in last year’s Premier League, has yet to find the back of the net since the season started last month but the 30-year-old’s scoring drought will not prompt Bento to discuss the issue with his captain when the squad meet on Monday.
