Jeju: Yee Yee Oo is confident Myanmar can bounce back from their 7-0 defeat to Korea Republic in their AFC Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament Group A opener on Monday.

Myanmar found Korea Republic too hot to handle at the Jeju World Cup Stadium and their hopes of qualifying for the 2020 Olympics are hanging by a thread going into Thursday's meeting with Vietnam.

Qualifiers Final Round - Group B MD1: Thailand 0-1 Chinese Taipei

Leumeah: Chinese Taipei moved a step closer to their first-ever Olympic Games women’s football appearance with a 1-0 win over Thailand in the opening match in Group B of the AFC Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament at Campbelltown Stadium on Monday.

Ting Chi’s strike midway through the first half gave Kazuo Echigo’s side a lead they never relinquished, well and truly keeping alive their hopes of advancing to next month’s final qualifying play-off as one the group’s top two sides.

Monday’s defeat comes as a severe blow to Thailand, who are now likely to need positive results against both China PR and Australia if their Olympic dream is to become a reality.

Jeju: Korea Republic got their AFC Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament off to a flying start with a 7-0 win over Myanmar in their Group A opener at the Jeju World Cup Stadium on Monday.

Ji So-yun put the Taeguk Ladies ahead with a fifth minute penalty and Lee So-dam doubled their advantage for a 2-0 lead at half-time, before Korea Republic turned on the power in the second half to register a resounding win.

Colin Bell’s side are one step closer to earning a spot at Tokyo 2020, while Myanmar will have to win their next match against Vietnam to keep their Olympic dream alive.

Korea Republic, Vietnam and Myanmar will see Group A action in Jeju Island, Korea Republic, while Australia, Thailand, China PR and Chinese Taipei will play their Group B matches in Sydney, Australia.

Tokyo 2020: Myanmar, Thailand share spoils in final friendly

Mandalay: Myanmar and Thailand’s respective preparations for the AFC Women’s Olympic Games Qualifying Tournament are complete after the Southeast Asian nations shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at Mandalay’s Mandalar Thiri Stadium on Tuesday.

Nu Nu opened the scoring for Myanmar early in the match, before Thailand levelled the tie seven minutes after half time through Saowalak Pengngam.

The friendly clash was the second meeting between the sides in less than a week, with Thailand earning a 2-1 win in their earlier clash at the same venue on Saturday.
