Tashkent: Uzbekistan defeated Syria 3-0 to close with a perfect three-match run in Group B of the the AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027™ Qualifiers on Sunday.

The 2023 champions will play in their third successive Finals after finishing three points clear of India, who beat Bangladesh 3-0 in the earlier fixture and are poised to make their first appearance since 2006.

Tashkent: Uzbekistan moved to the top of Group B of the AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027™ Qualifiers with a dominant 4-0 win over India on Thursday.

The result gave the Central Asia side maximum points, with a win or draw over Syria on Sunday booking their ticket to the Finals. 

In the earlier fixture, Syria kept their hopes alive with a 3-0 win over Bangladesh. 

The West Asia side secured their first three points ahead of a clash with Uzbekistan on Sunday while Bangladesh will look for their first win against India.

Kuala Lumpur: Japan international Ayase Ueda traded Dutch football for the French Ligue as he secured a move to four-time champions Lille OSC.

Bangladesh international Hamza Choudhury will also be playing in new colours, having signed for Sheffield United in the English Championship.

Tashkent: Uzbekistan kicked off their bid for a second title with a 2-0 win against Bangladesh in their AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027™ Qualifiers Group B tie on Monday.

India, meanwhile, scored late to defeat Syria 1-0 in the earlier match.

Uzbekistan 2027 hopefuls discover qualification path

Kuala Lumpur: Teams aiming to vie for the AFC U17 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2027™ title discovered their Qualifiers challenge following the Draw at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday.

The 35 teams were divided into seven groups of five to contest a single round-robin centralised league for the qualifying rounds that run from November 8 to 20, 2026.

The seven group winners will join the nine AFC representatives from the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2026 who have automatically qualified - Australia, China PR, Japan (defending champions), Korea Republic, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Vietnam - in the Finals.

After defeats in earlier matches, head coach Golam Robbani galvanised his charges to salvage some pride in their debut continental outing.

Sabah will play India’s East Bengal, who strolled 12-0 past Guam’s Rovers FC in the earlier match, on Sunday for top spot in Group A, with Rajshahi Stars hoping to get points on the board when they meet Rovers.

Kota Kinabalu: East Bengal FC hardly put a foot wrong as they began their AFC Women’s Champions League 2026/27™ Preliminary Stage in style with a 4-0 win against Rajshahi Stars FC on Monday.

Anthony Andrew’s side led from start to finish in a dominant victory and they will look to build on their momentum against Guam’s Rovers FC on Thursday while Rajhashi will have the opportunity to bounce back against Sabah FA.

Amman: Al Ittihad Ahli of Aleppo SC were made to work hard before edging Bangladesh Police FC 1-0 on Tuesday to confirm their place in the AFC Challenge League 2026/27™ Group Stage.

The Syrian side had Jordan Rodrigues’ first half strike to thank and they now await the draw on August 20 to learn their next challengers.

Dhaka: Fortis FC of Bangladesh secured their AFC Challenge League 2026/27™ Group Stage berth after defeating Kyrgyz Republic’s Muras United 1-0 at the Bashundhara Kings Arena on Tuesday.

Fortis broke the deadlock after a goalless first half with Mohammad Ibrahim scoring off a wonderful layoff from Pa Omar Babou to seal the win.
