Dammam: Yemen registered their first regional title, lifting the WAFF U15 championship after defeating hosts Saudi Arabia 4-3 in a penalty shootout at the Prince Muhamad Bin Fahad Stadium in Dammam on Monday.
Watched by 20,000 spectators, Yemen celebrated exuberantly following the shootout win after the match ended 1-1.

Doha: Qatar and Syria enjoyed opening day wins over Yemen and Sri Lanka respectively in Group A of the AFC U23 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2022 Qualifiers on Monday.
Two first half goals coupled with Khaled Mohammed's wonder strike in the 63rd minute saw Qatar emerge victorious against Yemen while Syria were equally impressive in their 5-0 win over Sri Lanka at the Khalifa International Stadium.
Qatar will face Sri Lanka next on Thursday, while Yemen must bounce back strongly against Syria if they are to stay in contention for a place in Uzbekistan 2022.

Palestine started on the front foot with Dabbagh coming within a whisker of opening the scoring on two separate occasions, hitting the post in the 12th minute and again midway through the first half.
As the opening period looked set to end with a stalemate, Dabbagh’s persistence finally paid off as he climbed highest to head home Islam Battran’s cross from the left flank into the back of the net, giving Palestine the lead.
