Hopefuls discover #AWCL Group Stage challengers

Kuala Lumpur: The AFC Women’s Champions League 2026/27™ is set for take-off following the conclusion of the Group Stage Draw at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday.

The 12 clubs were divided into three groups of four, with DPR Korea's Naegohyang Women’s FC aiming to defend their title.

Soreang: Head coach Igor Tolic felt Persib Bandung were deserving winners after their patience and defensive discipline earned the Indonesian side 1-0 victory over Manila Digger FC and a place in the AFC Champions League Two 2026/27™ Group Stage.

Mariano Peralta struck in the 88th minute to settle a difficult contest on Monday, with Tolic pleased with the way his side limited Manila Digger’s opportunities while remaining composed in search of the breakthrough.

Soreang: Mariano Peralta’s late goal gave Persib Bandung a 1-0 win over Manila Digger FC on Monday to secure the Indonesia outfit the last ticket to the AFC Champions League Two 2026/27™  Group Stage. 

The forward’s 88th-minute strike sees Persib joining Korea Republic’s FC Seoul, Australia’s Melbourne Victory FC and Vietnam’s The Cong - Viettel FC in Group E, which kicks off on September 16.

Uzbekistan 2027 hopefuls discover qualification path

Kuala Lumpur: Teams aiming to vie for the AFC U17 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2027™ title discovered their Qualifiers challenge following the Draw at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday.

The 35 teams were divided into seven groups of five to contest a single round-robin centralised league for the qualifying rounds that run from November 8 to 20, 2026.

The seven group winners will join the nine AFC representatives from the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2026 who have automatically qualified - Australia, China PR, Japan (defending champions), Korea Republic, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Vietnam - in the Finals.

Bishkek: Kaya FC-Iloilo showed defensive resilience as they held TSL FC to a goalless stalemate to stamp their ticket to the AFC Women’s Champions League 2026/27™ Group Stage on Sunday.

The Philippines side were put under tremendous pressure by their Hong Kong, China counterparts with goalkeeper Yasmin Elauria in fine form as they topped Group B on seven points, the same as TSL but with a superior goal difference.

Bishkek: Kaya FC-Iloilo of the Philippines turned on the power in the second half to defeat Cambodia’s Phnom Penh Crown FC 5-1 in their AFC Women’s Champions League 2026/27™ Preliminary Stage Group B tie on Thursday.

Kaya will look to maintain their perfect start when they face TSL FC of Hong Kong on Sunday with Phnom Penh taking on Kyrgyz Republic side FC Ilbirs.

Bishkek: Kaya FC-Iloilo showed they are a force to be reckoned with in the AFC Women’s Champions League 2026/27™ after defeating FC Ilbirs 6-0 in their Preliminary Stage Group B tie on Monday.

The Philippines club will next face Phnom Penh Crown FC of Cambodia on Thursday while Ilbirs play Hong Kong, China’s TSL FC.

Kuala Lumpur: Thailand set up an ASEAN Championship 2026 semi-final with four-times champions Singapore as Anthony Hudson’s side notched up a 2-0 win over Myanmar in Bangkok to seal top spot in Group B while Malaysia also advanced after their 1-0 victory over the Philippines.

The Singaporeans will host the first semi-final on August 15 against the seven-times champions with the return in Bangkok three days later while Malaysia will play against title holders Vietnam in the second semi-final on August 16 and August 19.

A penalty in each half from Worachit Kanitsribumphen and Jehhanafee Mamah earned the Thais their fourth win of the group phase as Hudson’s side finished with a perfect record and three points clear of the second-placed Malaysians.

Capas: Thailand maintained their perfect record in Group B of the ASEAN Championship 2026 on Tuesday as Waris Choolthong’s late header earned the former champions a 1-0 win over the Philippines that keeps Anthony Hudson’s side on top of the standings.

Hudson made eight changes to the team that won the previous outing against Malaysia and the Thais had to wait until four minutes from time to claim the three points when Waris powered Picha Autra’s cross from the left past Patrick Deyto.

Bangkok: Thailand moved into pole position in Group B of the ASEAN Championship on Saturday as Anthony Hudson’s side handed Malaysia a 2-0 defeat at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok.

Yotsakon Burapha’s penalty gave the seven-times champions the lead in the 38th minute and Teerasak Poeiphimai doubled the advantage 11 minutes into the second half as Thailand followed up their opening win over Laos with a second victory.

Group B: Malaysia march on; Myanmar bounce back

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia handed Laos a 4-0 defeat in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday as Tan Cheng Hoe’s side completed consecutive victories in Group B of the ASEAN Championship 2026 while Myanmar bounced back from their opening day loss to win 4-1 against the Philippines.

Paulo Josue scored for the second game in a row after a double in the win over Myanmar on Saturday to send the Malaysians on their way to victory with Endrick also on target before an own goal by Viengxay Sidavong and a fine free-kick by substitute Wan Kuzain.

Malaysia lead the standings with six points from their opening two matches and will face second-placed Thailand, who did not play on Tuesday, on Saturday while Laos will take on the Philippines.
