China PR to host AFC U20 Asian Cup 2027™

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Executive Committee ratified on Wednesday the AFC Competitions Committee’s recommendation to award the hosting rights of the AFC U20 Asian Cup 2027™ to the Chinese Football Association.

First held in 1959, the 2027 showpiece will mark the competition’s 43rd edition with China PR, the sole bidders, set to provide the backdrop for Asia’s top 16 sides for a second consecutive occasion following the success of the 2025 iteration, which was held in Shenzhen from February 12 to March 1 this year.

Kuala Lumpur: Underpinned by the strategic reforms introduced to further strengthen the development of women’s football, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has confirmed the host associations for its upcoming women’s age-group competitions.

Officially ratified by the AFC Executive Committee at its last meeting on April 11, following the recommendations of the AFC Women’s Football Committee on March 31, 2025, The Football Association of Thailand has been confirmed as the Host Association of the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup™ 2026.

To be held at the Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur, the 35th AFC Congress will vote on the Audited Financial Statements and Auditors’ Report for the year 2024, which saw the AFC deliver a historic 16 competitions, including the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™, and usher a new dawn with the commencement of its revamped club competitions.

AFC unveils breakthrough reforms to strengthen Women’s National Team Competitions

Kuala Lumpur: Underlining its steadfast and continued efforts to elevate the stature and standards of the women’s game across Asia, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has confirmed today the introduction of several key reforms to its Women’s National Team Competitions, which will come into effect from 2026 onwards.

Officially ratified by the AFC Executive Committee on Thursday, these key reforms will result in the optimisation of the qualification pathways for both the AFC Women’s Asian Cup™ and FIFA Women’s World Cup, as well as a more straightforward qualification format for the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament.

AFC Congress elects two new members to the AFC Executive Committee

Bangkok: The 34th Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Congress concluded on Thursday in Bangkok, Thailand with the AFC’s Member Associations electing by acclamation two new members to the AFC Executive Committee for the remainder of the 2023 to 2027 term.

Ms. Mijgona Mahmadalieva from Tajikistan was elected as the Female AFC Executive Committee member for the Central Zone whilst Mr. Chung Mong Gyu from the Korea Republic was elected as an AFC Executive Committee for the East Zone.
