AFC Professional Football Committee adopts key changes to elevate Asian club football

Jeddah: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Professional Football Committee convened for its second meeting on Friday afternoon as it reaffirmed the Confederation’s continued commitment to strengthening the foundations of Asian professional club football.

Held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and led by Chairperson Park Ji-sung, the Committee approved amendments to the AFC Club Competitions – Entry Regulations (Edition 2025) and AFC Club Licensing Regulations (Edition 2024), and also agreed to adopt the AFC Club Competitions – Entry Regulations (Edition 2026) and AFC Club Licensing Regulations (Edition 2026), which are aimed at elevating the professional standards across the Continent.

Kuala Lumpur: The AFC Medical Committee’s resolve to strengthen the professional care of Asian players was further underlined at its fifth meeting today with the approval of the breakthrough AFC Guidelines for Dental Health and On-field Management of Dental Emergencies.

The first comprehensive sports dentistry framework ever to be introduced in Asian football history, the living document, which will be regularly reviewed, updated and strengthened as new evidence emerges, is poised to set a new benchmark for player welfare by integrating oral health into mainstream football medical care.

AFC Associations Committee strengthens good governance and professional standards

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s continued strides towards upholding its cherished values of good governance and professionalism were further underlined by the AFC Associations Committee at its third meeting held virtually on Friday.

At the outset, Chairperson Hachem Haidar singled out the landmark Guidelines on Principles of Good Governance for Regional Associations’ (RAs) Statutes, which have been strategically introduced with the aim of ensuring the democratic, fair, transparent, and financially responsible functioning of the AFC's five RAs.
