Qatar to host AFC Asian Cup 2023™; India and Saudi Arabia shortlisted for 2027 edition
Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Executive Committee has today confirmed the Qatar Football Association (QFA) as the host association for the AFC Asian Cup 2023™.
Chairing the 11th AFC Executive Committee meeting, AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa congratulated the QFA on their successful bid and also conveyed the appreciation of the Asian football family to the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) and the Korea Football Association (KFA) for their commendable proposals.
AFC Technical Committee enhances coaching standards
Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Technical Committee underlined its commitment to raise the technical standards of the Continent’s coaches after it approved several enhancements and new requirements at its fifth meeting held virtually today.
In preparation of the launch of the AFC Women’s Champions League in 2024, the Committee, led by Chairperson Kohzo Tashima, acknowledged the importance of establishing a progressive minimum coaching requirement for key coaching positions of participating clubs.
AFC Referees Committee strengthens criteria and pathways for AFC Elite Referee Assessors and Instructors
Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s commitment to ensure the Continent’s match officials continue to receive the highest standards of mentorship and guidance was further reinforced by the AFC Referees Committee at its sixth meeting held virtually today.
Chaired by His Excellency Du Zhaocai, the Committee approved several decisions aimed at elevating the current entry criteria and pathways for AFC Elite Referee Assessors and AFC Elite Referee Instructors, other than through the FIFA FUTURO III courses.

Kuala Lumpur: The AFC Futsal & Beach Soccer Committee lauded the anticipated return of the ongoing AFC Futsal Asian Cup™ after a four-year hiatus at their third meeting held in Kuwait today.
Led by Chairperson, Mehdi Taj, the Committee congratulated and sent their best wishes to the two finalists – Islamic Republic of Iran and Japan - on qualifying to the final tomorrow and expressed their appreciation to the hosts, the Kuwait Football Association (KFA).
AFC Development Committee underlines stronger support for MAs and RAs
Kuala Lumpur: The lasting and widespread impact of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s development programmes in strengthening its Member Associations (MAs) and Regional Associations (RAs) was further emphasised by the AFC Development Committee at its fourth meeting held virtually today.
Led by Chairperson Salem Said Salem Al Wahaibi, the Committee approved the proposal to introduce the new consolidated AFC Enhance Programme Regulations which will simplify the existing Regulations and Policies and establish a more transparent regulatory framework for all beneficiary MAs and RAs.
