ANFA Football Clinics for Underprivileged Children drives social change in Nepal

Kathmandu: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) Football Clinics for Underprivileged Children programme successfully concluded in March 2025, bringing to fruition a meaningful journey of empowering children in the region.

Supported by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s Dream Asia Foundation, the programme was launched in October 2023 in the districts of Madhesh and Karnali, which are among the most vulnerable and remote pockets in the South Asian nation.

New York: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to harnessing the power of football to drive positive change in society at the United Nations (UN) Football for the Goals (FFTG) Forum, held on May 21, 2025, at the UN Headquarters in New York, the United States of America.

Titled Champions for Change: Football and the UN Unite for the SDGs, the Forum served as a precursor to the inaugural FIFA World Football Week and highlighted the sport’s unique ability to promote and support the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Japan FA boosts mental health awareness with landmark initiative

Osaka: As part of a drive to ensure that football remains all-inclusive, the Japan Football Association (JFA) launched the inaugural Mental Health Asian Football Programme in Sakai City, Osaka earlier this year from January 15 to 18.

Supported by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Dream Asia Foundation, the landmark initiative comprised the Dream Asia Cup 2025, a futsal tournament, as well as an international conference and two symposiums that ran alongside the competition.

Hagatna: The AFC Dream Asia Foundation (ADAF) underlined its overarching motto of “Football Cares” by providing unwavering support to the Guam Football Association (GFA) in the aftermath of Super Typhoon Mawar, which struck the island in May 2023.

Following the destruction left by the storm, GFA suffered significant damage not only to its headquarters in the capital but also to its National Training Center, leading to the disruption of several football activities, including the suspension of domestic leagues, national teams’ training, grassroots initiatives, and other developmental programmes.

SAFF’s ‘Kick Off’ series champions child safeguarding in South Asia

Dhaka: The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF), in collaboration with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s Dream Asia Foundation, recently launched a 2D animated series, Kick Off, to educate young footballers in South Asia on child safeguarding issues.

Launched in January, the five-part series targets players aged between 11 and 17, and addresses key topics such as physical safety, mental well-being, child abuse prevention, online safety, and inclusivity.

A collaborative effort between the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Dream Asia Foundation, the Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC) and the Indochina Starfish Foundation (ISF), the project, since its inception in 2020, has played a key role in equipping young people in the Southeast Asian nation with the skills to address social challenges through the beautiful game.
