Taking place on the sidelines of the 9th WAFF Women’s Football Championship, where Jordan defeated Palestine to claim their seventh title, the seminar was attended by safeguarding officers and other representatives from the Bahrain Football Association (BFA), Iraqi Football Association (IFA), Jordan Football Association (JFA), Lebanese Football Association (LFA), Qatar Football Association (QFA), Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF), and the Yemen Football Association (YFA).

The two-day seminar, attended by safeguarding officers and youth competition managers from all six CAFA Member Associations (MAs), was an excellent opportunity for participants to acquaint themselves with the latest best practices for the protection of children from harm, abuse, and exploitation.

Purposefully curated to uplift the child safeguarding standards across the South Asian region, the seminar brought together safeguarding officers and representatives from all seven Member Associations (MAs), who were presented with invaluable insights from experts from FIFA and the AFC.

Hosted during the EAFF U15 Women's Championship 2024, the event was also supported by tournament hosts, the Chinese Football Association (CFA), and was attended by footballers and officials from all 10 Member Associations (MAs) of the East region. - China PR, Chinese Taipei, DPR Korea, Guam, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Korea Republic, Macau, Mongolia and the Northern Mariana Islands.

Attended by 60 participants, ranging from coaches, Physical Education teachers, referees, as well as players, the workshop aimed to shed light on the integral role that safeguarding plays in nurturing a safe environment for youngsters to enjoy football, as well as other sports.

Held on February 24 at the National Football Training Centre Baddegana, the initiative saw 29 coaches participate in several discussions and activities aimed at highlighting the importance of a secure and positive space for youngsters to grow their love for the beautiful game.

The seminar brought together safeguarding officers of the Bangladesh Football Federation, Bhutan Football Federation, All India Football Federation, Football Association of Maldives and the Pakistan Football Federation.

Supported by the AFC Dream Asia Foundation (ADAF), the Lebanese Football Association (LFA) conducted the four-month long programme which impacted thousands of lives across eight regions of Lebanon, namely Beirut, Mount Lebanon, South Lebanon, Nabatieh, North Lebanon, Aakkar, Baalbek and Beqaa.

The AFC is firmly committed to protecting the rights of children and ensuring that they can play football within a safe, positive and encouraging atmosphere. Developed exclusively by the AFC, the ACCS aims to raise awareness on child safeguarding and equip participants with the knowledge and skills to keep children safe from harm when engaged in all football activities.

With the goal of helping Lebanon’s youth use the power of football to overcome life’s challenges, the programme is a firm indication of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s determination in ensuring that football is carried out in a safe and encouraging atmosphere for every individual.

With the help of the innovative “Safety Balloon” exercise, the activity saw the participation of footballers from every national team that competed in the tournament.

The seminar was aimed at supporting the CAFA’s efforts in developing and promoting Child Safeguarding in Central Asia.
