Fortis’ Ibrahim savours historic strike

Dhaka: Mohammad Ibrahim savoured his match-winning contribution after firing Bangladesh’s Fortis FC into the AFC Challenge League 2026/27™ Group Stage with a 1-0 win over FC Muras United on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old, brought in on loan from Abahani Limited for Fortis' continental campaign, struck in the 52nd minute to seal a 1-0 Preliminary Stage victory at the Bashundhara Kings Arena.

Dhaka: Fortis FC of Bangladesh secured their AFC Challenge League 2026/27™ Group Stage berth after defeating Kyrgyz Republic’s Muras United 1-0 at the Bashundhara Kings Arena on Tuesday.

Fortis broke the deadlock after a goalless first half with Mohammad Ibrahim scoring off a wonderful layoff from Pa Omar Babou to seal the win.

Thimphu: Bhutan’s Paro FC advanced to the group stage of the AFC Challenge League 2026/27™ Group Stage after edging Abu Muslim Farah FC of Afghanistan 2-0 at the Changlimithang Stadium on Tuesday.

Goals by Yuta Mishima and Abdoulie Baldeh secured Paro’s third consecutive group stage appearance. Abu Muslim, defeated by the same opponents last season, again failed in their bid to become the first Afghan club to qualify for the Group Stage of an AFC competition.

Bishkek: Syria’s Homs Al Fidaa SC survived a stern test to beat FC Dordoi of Kyrgyz Republic 8-7 on penalties to qualify for the AFC Challenge League 2026/27™ Group Stage on Tuesday.

The match at Dolen Omurzakov Stadium saw both teams tied 1-1 after extra-time with the shootout going into sudden death after the first 10 penalties were netted.

Naoki Kaneko scored 16 minutes from time to secure Hang Yuan’s place in the draw for the next phase as the club confirmed their appearance in the group phase of continental competition for the first time since 2019.
