Jeddah: Al Ittihad Club turned on the power to book their AFC Champions League Elite  2025/26™ Round of 16 spot with an emphatic 7-0 win against Al Gharafa SC on Tuesday.

The win took Saudi Arabia’s Al Ittihad to 12 points, ensuring them a top eight finish irrespective of what happens in next week’s final round of League Stage matches. 

Al Gharafa - on six points and 10th in the standings - have a mathematical chance of advancing but it will require results elsewhere to go their way next week.

Doha: Al Sadd SC breathed life into their AFC Champions League Elite 2025/26™ hopes with a 2-0 win against Tractor FC at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium on Tuesday.

The win moved Qatar’s Al Sadd to eight points while it was Tractor’s first defeat, with the Islamic Republic of Iran side having already confirmed Round of 16 qualification.

Chengdu: Thailand’s Buriram United boosted their Round of 16 hopes with a 1-0 win against China PR’s Chengdu Rongcheng FC in their AFC Champions League Elite 2025/26™ match on Tuesday.

A second half goal by Brazilian Bissoli at the Phoenix Hill Sports Park Football Stadium pushed Mark Jackson’s side to fourth in the table with 11 points.

China’s Chengdu, six points behind, are 10th and have only a slim chance of qualifying.

Shanghai: Japan’s FC Machida Zelvia confirmed their progress to the last 16 of the AFC Champions League Elite 2025/26™ on Tuesday as Yuki Soma struck twice to secure a 2-0 win over hosts Shanghai Shenhua FC for Go Kuruda’s side.

The win at Shanghai Stadium moves the J1 League side onto 14 points from their seven games to date and that total is enough to confirm the Emperor’s Cup holders will progress to the next phase of the competition, which will be played in March.
 
Shanghai Shenhua, by contrast, have been eliminated with Leonid Slutsky’s side remaining on four points and adrift of the qualification slots with only their clash with Buriram United from Thailand next Tuesday left to play.

Second-half goals by Yoshinori Muto and Gotoku Sakai at the Kobe City Misaki Park Stadium cemented Michael Skibbe side’s place at the top of the table with 16 points. 

Korea Republic’s FC Seoul, seven points adrift, will need a win in their last match against Sanfrecce Hiroshima to stay in the running.

Hiroshima: Akito Suzuki scored twice as Sanfrecce Hiroshima came back from going behind to an early Marcos Guilherme strike to hand 10-man Johor Darul Ta’zim a 2-1 defeat on Tuesday and advance to the last 16 of the AFC Champions League Elite 2025/26™.

Guilherme gave the visitors a third minute lead when he pounced on a defensive error but Jonathan Silva’s sending off swung proceedings in Sanfrecce’s favour and Suzuki’s double in the 18th and 47th minutes confirmed his side’s progress to the next round.

 

Hiroshima move onto 14 points from seven matches and cannot finish outside the top eight of the eastern league phase standings with one round remaining. JDT, meanwhile, stay on eight points ahead of next week’s meeting with Vissel Kobe.
