#AWCL - Finals set to be a sizzler

Kuala Lumpur: The AFC Women’s Champions League 2025/26™ is primed for an exciting conclusion following the completion of the last eight stage on Sunday.

The four teams will now set their eyes on the centralised Finals, with the semi-finals to take place on May 20 and the final three days later, with all three ties single leg affairs.

The win sees the Korea Republic side, who qualified for the last four for the first time, set up a meeting with tournament debutants Naegohyang Women’s FC of DPR Korea.

Melbourne: Chinaza Uchendu stepped off the bench to score a spectacular 90th minute winner as last season’s runners-up Melbourne City FC booked their place in the AFC Women’s Champions League 2025/26™ semi-finals with a 2-1 win over Uzbekistan’s PFC Nasaf on Sunday.

The Nigerian forward was introduced in the 82nd minute and struck less than eight minutes later when she flicked the ball over her own head before crashing a vicious shot past the flat-footed Maftuna Jonimqulova.

The win, which came after Holly McNamara’s 38th minute opener for City was cancelled out in the 42nd minute by Zarina Mamatkarimova, means Michael Matricciani’s side will take on Japan’s Tokyo Verdy Beleza in the semi-finals in May.

The DPR Korea side only had one goal to show despite a dominant opening half with Kim Hye Yong’s 40th minute header giving her team the lead before further efforts from Jong Kum and Kim Kyong Yong after the break added gloss to the final result.
