Teenager McMahon proud to have delivered for Melbourne City

Wuhan: Shelby McMahon refused to take all the credit, despite scoring the decisive goal that sealed Melbourne City FC’s 1-0 victory over Hyundai Steel Red Angels Women’s FC in the semi-finals of the inaugural AFC Women’s Champions League™.

At just 17 years old, McMahon is the youngest player in the competition, but she rose to the occasion when it mattered most, unleashing a long-range strike in the fourth minute of added time to send the Australian side to their first-ever Continental final.

Wuhan: Wang Shuang put in a player of the match performance in helping Wuhan Jiangda Women’s FC defeat Ho Chi Minh City Women’s FC 2-0 in their AFC Women's Champions League™ 2024/25 semi-final but is already eyeing an uptake in performance for Saturday’s  final.

The mercurial Wang was a standout performer on Wednesday, scoring the opener with a sublime curling effort and her constant runs and deliveries for the China PR side proved too much for their Vietnamese opponents.

With both sides struggling to find the back of the net for 90 minutes, the match seemed destined for extra time before Shelby McMahon rescued Melbourne City with a 91st minute screamer, leaving Matricciani ecstatic.

#AFCU23 draw to set stage for Saudi Arabia 2026 Qualifiers

The 44 teams eyeing a place at the AFC U23 Asian Cup™ Saudi Arabia 2026 will discover their qualifying journey on Thursday afternoon when the Qualifiers Draw takes place at 3pm.

The ceremony, to be held at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, will sort the cast into 11 groups to do battle for the Qualifiers, which will take place between September 3 and 9, 2025.

#ACLElite 2024/25 Fantasy Football: And that’s a wrap!

Kuala Lumpur: The curtain came down on the AFC Champions League Elite™ 2024/25 when Jeddah giants Al Ahli Saudi FC were crowned the Kings of Asian Football after beating Kawasaki Frontale in the final. 

The final also brought an end to our inaugural AFC Champions League Elite™ 2024/25 Fantasy Football campaign. Thanks to all who played – we hope you had fun and we look forward to seeing you again next season.
