Kuala Lumpur: Islamic Republic of Iran will look to defend their crown when the CAFA Nations Cup 2025 kicks off on Friday with seven other teams also vying for the coveted title.

The 2025 edition marks the second edition of the biennial tournament.

Co-hosted by Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, the tournament is scheduled to run till September  with the eight teams divided into two groups, including two invited nations  –  Oman and India.

Kuala Lumpur: The cast of the AFC U23 Asian Cup™ Saudi Arabia 2026 Qualifiers will have their sights firmly set on reaching the seventh edition of the tournament when kick-off takes place on September 3 (Wednesday).

A record 44 teams are set to compete in the upcoming edition of the Qualifiers and they have been divided into 11 groups, each to be contested in a single round-robin format in centralised venues. At stake are 15 places in the Finals, to be filled by the 11 group winners and four best runners-up overall, with first-time hosts Saudi Arabia completing the final line-up.

Socceroo Marco Tilio signs for Rapid Wein

Vienna: Australia international winger Marco Tilio has joined Rapid Wein from Scottish Premiership side Celtic on a four-year contract, the Austrian club have confirmed.

The 24-year-old has signed for Rapid Wein after spending the last 18 months on loan at Melbourne City, where he played a key role in leading the club to their A-League Championship title win over Melbourne Victory in May.
