IR Iran power to record fourth title

Pattaya: Islamic Republic of Iran reigned supreme again at the AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup™ after they defended their title with an 8-1 win against Oman in the Thailand 2025 final on Sunday.

It was a historic occasion for Iran as they not only emerged back-to-back champions for the first time but Sunday's triumph puts them ahead of Japan as the only four-time champions.

Mirshekari scoops MVP, Top Scorer awards

Pattaya: Ali Mirshekari was named the AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup™ Thailand 2025’s Most Valuable Player after he helped Islamic Republic of Iran win the title with a commanding 8-1 win against Oman in the final on Sunday.

With 12 goals in the tournament, Mirshekari also bagged the Top Scorer award.

Japan defeat Saudi Arabia to finish third

Pattaya: Japan held off a spirited Saudi Arabia to take third place in the AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup™ Thailand 2025 with a 3-1 win in the playoff at the Jomtien Beach Arena on Sunday.

The victory meant Japan will be Asia’s third representatives at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Seychelles 2025, with Islamic Republic and Oman having confirmed their spots earlier.

Kuala Lumpur: Indonesia's Ole Romenij's strike against Bahrain has been voted as the best goal of MD7 & 8 in the third round of the AFC Asian Qualifiers™ - Road to 26.

Romenij scored the winner in the 24th minute after converting Marselino Ferdinan's layoff to claim a vital three points against Bahrain. The Oxford United forward garnered 76% of the votes.

#WAC2026 Qualifiers draw finalised

Kuala Lumpur: Teams hoping to earn passage discovered their opponents following the conclusion of the AFC Women's Asian Cup Australia 2026™ Qualifiers draw at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday.

The 34 sides were drawn into six groups of four teams and two groups of five, with the Qualifiers to be hosted by Cambodia, Indonesia, Jordan, Myanmar, Tajikistan, Thailand, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.

The eight group winners will join defending champions China PR, Korea Republic and Japan in the Finals, scheduled to be staged across three host cities from March 1 to 26, 2026.
