Group D: Kuwait 2-1 Bahrain

Bangkok: Kuwait opened their AFC Futsal Asian Cup™ Thailand 2024 Group D campaign with a narrow 2-1 win over Bahrain on Thursday.

The result puts Kuwait second in the group behind of Islamic Republic of Iran, who saw off Afghanistan 3-1 in in the day’s earlier game at Hua Mark Indoor Stadium, on goal difference.

Doha: Komang Teguh’s first half header earned tournament debutants Indonesia a 1-0 win over Australia at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium in Group A on Thursday to reignite his nation's challenge for a place in the quarter-finals of the AFC U23 Asian Cup Qatar 2024™.

Ernando Ari Sutaryadi saved Mohamed Toure’s 25th minute penalty before Komang’s close range header 20 minutes later allowed Shin Tae-yong’s team to pick up their first win of the campaign after an opening 2-0 loss against hosts Qatar on Monday.
 
The result leaves Australia on one point from two games having drawn with Jordan in their first match of the competition and Tony Vidmar’s side needs to win against the Qataris in the final round of group matches on Sunday to have any chance of progressing.

Bangkok: Kyrgyz Republic got their AFC Futsal Asian Cup Thailand™ 2024 Group C campaign off to a sensational start, defeating defending champions Japan 3-2 at the Bangkok Arena on Thursday.

Samat Dzhanat Uulu, Maksat Alimov and Kairat Kubanychov found the back of the net as Kyrgyz Republic staved off a late Japan fightback to take the points.
 
They play Tajikistan next on Saturday, while Japan will meet Korea Republic.

Bangkok: Islamic Republic of Iran got their AFC Futsal Asian Cup Thailand™ 2024 Group D campaign off to a strong start at Hua Mark Indoor Stadium with a 3-1 win over debutants Afghanistan on Thursday.

A brace from Saeid Ahmadabasi and a strike from Mahdi Karimi proved to be the difference as Iran eventually broke down hard-working opponents who restricted the Asian futsal powerhouses to just the one goal at half-time, before Mehran Ghorlami wrote his own little piece of history with his nation's maiden goal at the tournament.
