Kuala Lumpur: Vietnam and Philippines booked their places in Round 2 of the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup™ Indonesia 2024 Qualifiers with resounding wins on Wednesday.
Vietnam defeated Uzbekistan 3-0 to top Group C with two wins while Philippines finished with a perfect record as well after beating Lebanon 2-0 in Group G.
Thailand, Chinese Taipei and Bangladesh, meanwhile, opened their Groups A, B and C campaigns with wins over Northern Mariana Islands, Mongolia and Turkmenistan respectively. There were opening victories for Korea Republic, India and Islamic Republic of Iran as well in Groups E, F and H respectively.

Following a captivating round of qualifiers, which was held from October 1 to 9 last year, the attention will soon shift to the showpiece finals, which will be staged in Bangkok and Chonburi over 18 days from June 15 to July 2, 2023.

Following the withdrawal of the Bahrain Football Association from hosting the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2023™, the Competitions Committee approved the proposal to award the hosting rights of the age group competition to the Football Association of Thailand.

Kuala Lumpur: The build-up to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s 2023 age-group tournaments gained momentum today with the launch of the brand identities of the upcoming editions of the AFC U-17 Asian Cup 2023™ and the AFC U-20 Asian Cup 2023™, both of which will return after a hiatus of four years.
The competitions, which have shifted from their erstwhile identities of U-16 and U-19 Championships to ensure Asian teams are competitive in the FIFA U-17 and FIFA U-20 World Cups respectively, depict new designs which, while vibrant and youthful in isolation, are tied to a greater narrative of a youth footballer on their journey towards the senior national teams.
